When to go
Jackson Hole runs on two seasons rather than one, with genuine quiet between them. Demand follows the ski calendar and the national parks, so the same home can be at its most expensive in February and its most available in May.
Winter peaks over the holidays and through the deep-snow months of January and February, when ski-in access and hot tubs carry a premium and Christmas week routinely requires a seven-night minimum. Summer peaks in July and August, when Grand Teton and Yellowstone are fully open and the valley is at its busiest.
The best-value weeks with the valley still at its best. June brings long days, high water and wildflowers as the park roads reopen; September brings cool mornings, golden aspens and the elk rut, with far fewer visitors than August. Early December can be excellent if the snow has arrived.
The gaps between seasons, known locally as mud season. Lifts close in early April and the high country stays snowbound into June; late October and November wait on the first real storms. Expect the lowest rates of the year and near-full availability, but also reduced restaurant hours and some closed trails and park roads.
