When to go
Aspen has the sharpest seasonal swing of any destination we book. Christmas through New Year is the most expensive week of the year anywhere in the American Rockies, while the same chalet can sit open and affordable in May.
Winter is the headline season. Christmas and New Year set the annual ceiling and are usually gone a year ahead, with minimum stays of seven to fourteen nights; January and February bring the most reliable snow, and March adds spring break and long, warm ski days. Summer peaks in July and August around the Music Festival, when the valley is green and the evenings are cool.
The weeks that offer the most for the least. June opens the hiking and biking season as the passes clear, and September is the finest month in the valley — cool, dry, with the aspens turning through the last two weeks. One exception: the Food & Wine Classic in mid-June, which books and prices like high season.
