In Miami, winter is the season our clients ask about most. From December through March the humidity drops, afternoons stay in the mid-70s, and the water is still warm enough to swim off the back of a yacht. The calendar fills up just as quickly as the weather improves. The art world arrives in early December, families fill the villas over the holidays, and by February the bay is full of superyachts.
That's also why the best homes, boats and restaurant tables in Miami are booked weeks in advance during winter. This guide covers the events worth planning a trip around in 2026–27, the neighborhoods that suit different kinds of travelers, and how we put a trip together for our clients.
If you're new to us: Travel with Aspect is a Miami-based luxury concierge company. We arrange private villa rentals, yacht charters, exotic car rentals and full concierge services in Miami, the Caribbean, Los Angeles and other destinations, mostly for clients whose time and privacy matter a great deal to them.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2026: The Start of the Season
Art Basel Miami Beach is open to the public December 4–6, 2026 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The invitation-only VIP days are December 2 and 3. It's the most important contemporary art fair in the Americas, and in Miami it effectively kicks off the winter season.
The main fair is only part of the week. Miami Art Week runs from about November 30 through December 6, with satellite fairs, museum openings, brand dinners and after-parties all over the city. Design Miami is right next to the Convention Center and focuses on collectible furniture and design. Untitled Art sets up in a tent on the beach at Ocean Drive and 12th Street from December 2 to 6. SCOPE Miami Beach, also on the sand, runs December 1 to 6 with a younger, more experimental lineup. On the mainland, Art Miami and CONTEXT are the anchors, and NADA Miami is where curators go to find emerging galleries. Wynwood and the Design District stay open late all week with new murals and pop-ups.
Planning Art Week
The art is the easy part to plan. What wears people out is everything around it. Causeway traffic can turn a ten-minute drive into fifty minutes, restaurants are fully booked, and the best invitations are never posted publicly.
Most of our Art Week clients ask for the same four things. First, a waterfront villa instead of a hotel, so they're minutes from the Convention Center and have space to host their own dinner. Second, a day yacht charter that serves as a lounge between fairs, because crossing the bay by boat is much faster than sitting on the MacArthur Causeway. Third, a car and driver on standby, usually a chauffeured SUV during the day and something more fun at night. Fourth, access: dinner reservations, club tables and event entry confirmed before they land.
Villas and yachts for Art Week are the first to book up each season. If you're planning to be here December 2–6, reach out now.
Miami Winter Events Calendar: December 2026 to March 2027
Art Basel starts the season, but there's plenty more on the calendar. These are the dates we'd plan around.
December 2026: Art, Music and the Holidays
Art Week runs December 2 through 6 across Miami Beach, Wynwood and the Design District, and there's a lot of music the same week. Usher and Chris Brown bring The R&B Tour to Hard Rock Stadium on December 3, 5 and 6, and Rawayana plays Kaseya Center on December 5 and 6.
Mid-month, Gente de Zona plays a hometown show at Kaseya Center on December 11, the Heat host the Knicks there on December 12, and Ryan Castro performs on December 19. The Dolphins have home games at Hard Rock Stadium against the Bears on December 13, the Chargers on December 27 and the Bills on January 3, and December football in shorts is one of the perks of being here.
On December 31, there are New Year's Eve fireworks over Bayfront Park, South Beach and Biscayne Bay.
January 2027: Playoff Football, Jazz and the Marathon
The Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium hosts a College Football Playoff semifinal on Thursday, January 14, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The South Beach Jazz Festival runs January 14 through 17, with many performances outdoors. The month ends with the Life Time Miami Marathon and Half on January 31, which crosses the causeways between downtown and Miami Beach.
February 2027: Boats, Art, Racing and Food
February is the busiest month of the season. Pablo Alborán plays Kaseya Center on February 6, a week before Valentine's Day. The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show runs February 10 through 14 across six venues in Miami and Miami Beach. It overlaps with the Coconut Grove Arts Festival on the Grove waterfront, February 13 through 15, which is a relaxed, family-friendly way to spend Presidents' Day weekend.
The Formula E Miami E-Prix brings electric racing to Hard Rock Stadium on February 20. The South Beach Wine & Food Festival closes out the month from February 25 through 28.
Dates are current as of mid-October 2026, but schedules sometimes change, so confirm before booking.
March 2027: Carnaval, Tennis and Music
Carnaval Miami runs March 6 through 14, 2027, including Calle Ocho in Little Havana and events in Coral Gables. Later in the month, the Miami Open brings professional tennis to Hard Rock Stadium, and Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival take over downtown. The exact 2027 dates for those three haven't been announced yet, but we're already getting requests for those weeks.
The Holidays in Miami
A lot of families spend Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's in Miami. Dinner on a terrace and a morning on the water make for a very different holiday than shoveling snow.
Families and multigenerational groups usually arrive around December 20 and stay through the first weekend in January. That's the busiest stretch of the year for private villas, and most of our holiday homes have a minimum stay. A villa makes the holidays easier for a big group: there's a full kitchen or a private chef, a pool the kids can use all day, and enough bedrooms for grandparents, cousins and friends to stay under one roof.
New Year's Eve on the Water
On New Year's Eve, Bayfront Park hosts the public countdown and fireworks, the South Beach hotels book headline performers, and every rooftop in Brickell has a party. We think the best view is from the water. On a New Year's Eve yacht charter, you're out on Biscayne Bay with the skyline on one side and the fireworks overhead, and there's no line to get in. These charters book first, so plan early.
Boat Show Week
For many of our clients who love boats, the Miami International Boat Show is the highlight of the year. If you're shopping for a boat, selling one, or just want to be around them, we can set up a charter so you can try a yacht before buying one, along with a waterfront villa with a dock so the tender can pick you up at home.
Where to Stay in Miami: Choosing the Right Neighborhood
Miami's neighborhoods are very different from each other, and the causeways can make the distances feel longer than they are. That makes the neighborhood you pick more important than the specific house, because it shapes what your days look like.
Here's the short version. For nightlife, stay in South Beach or Brickell. For boating, look at the Venetian Islands, the Sunset Islands or North Bay Road. For families, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables or Key Biscayne. For art and design, Wynwood, the Design District or Edgewater. For beach and spa time, Mid-Beach, Surfside or Bal Harbour. And if privacy matters most, start with Star, Palm, Hibiscus or Fisher Island.
South Beach and Brickell for Nightlife
South Beach is the Miami you've seen in photos: Art Deco buildings, Ocean Drive, beach clubs during the day and LIV a short ride away at night. Stay here if you want to walk to dinner. South of Fifth, at the southern tip of the island, has the same access but feels quieter and more residential.
Brickell is the mainland option, with glass towers, rooftop lounges and many of the city's best restaurants within a few blocks. It's also close to Kaseya Center for concerts and Heat games.
The Venetian Islands, Sunset Islands and North Bay Road for Boating
If you want your days to start on a dock, look at the residential islands between Miami and Miami Beach. Many of these homes are right on Biscayne Bay with private dockage, so your charter or tender can pick you up from the backyard. South Beach is about ten minutes one way and the Design District about ten minutes the other. This is where we usually recommend our Art Week and Boat Show clients stay.
Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and Key Biscayne for Families
Coconut Grove is Miami's oldest neighborhood and also its most laid-back, with banyan trees over the streets, a walkable village center, sailing clubs and parks along the bay. Coral Gables, right next door, has Mediterranean-style architecture, golf and the historic Venetian Pool. Key Biscayne feels like a small island town, with calm, shallow beaches, bike paths and Crandon Park, about 15 minutes from downtown. Big homes with pools and yards are common in all three, which is why our holiday family groups tend to pick them.
Wynwood, the Design District and Edgewater for Art and Design
This part of the mainland is where Miami goes for food, shopping and art. Wynwood has the murals and galleries, the Design District has fashion houses and furniture showrooms, and Edgewater's towers on the bay sit between them with views of the skyline. During Art Week, staying here puts the satellite fairs and after-parties close by.
Mid-Beach, Surfside and Bal Harbour for Beach and Spa Days
North of South Beach, things get quieter and the beaches get wider. Mid-Beach has the Faena District and the big resort hotels. Farther north, Surfside and Bal Harbour combine calm oceanfront living with the Bal Harbour Shops, one of the best luxury shopping destinations in the country.
If you're not sure which area is right, tell us who's coming and what an ideal day looks like for your group. We'll put together a shortlist of homes in the right part of town.
How Travel with Aspect Plans Your Miami Winter
A winter trip to Miami involves a lot of separate pieces, and it goes much better when someone local is managing all of them. We work as one team with one point of contact, so your villa, yacht, car and dinner reservations are all coordinated.
Private Villa Rentals
Our homes range from waterfront villas to private estates with several houses on one property. We choose each one for what peak-season travelers need: privacy, room to entertain, pools and outdoor space, and, on the waterfront, a dock for a boat.
During the busiest weeks, a villa gives you things a hotel suite can't. Your whole group stays together, you host on your own schedule, and nobody is watching who comes and goes. We take care of arrival setup, housekeeping, private chefs and anything else you need while you're there.
Yacht Charters
Winter is the best season to charter in Miami. We arrange sunset cruises on Biscayne Bay, full days at the sandbar, New Year's Eve fireworks charters, and multi-day trips to the Bahamas and the rest of the Caribbean. Every charter comes with a crew and is stocked to your preferences. Tell us the occasion and how many guests, and we'll pick the right boat, plan the route, and arrange catering, water toys and entertainment.
Exotic Car Rentals
Miami is a great city for driving a great car. We deliver exotic and luxury cars to your villa, the private aviation terminal or your hotel, so you never have to deal with a rental counter. If you'd rather be driven, we provide chauffeured SUVs and Sprinter vans for groups, events and airport transfers.
Concierge Services
Our concierge team handles everything else: private chefs, in-villa spa treatments, private aviation coordination, airport transfers, security, childcare and staff. We also plan celebrations, from birthdays and proposals to fully produced events, and we get the restaurant reservations that are hardest to land in season. Many of our clients are ultra-high-net-worth travelers with tight schedules and real privacy concerns, and we plan every trip to that same standard.
Beyond Miami
Many of our winter clients add a second destination. Our team also books villas, yachts and concierge services in the Caribbean, Los Angeles and other destinations, so a week in Miami can easily turn into a few days in Turks and Caicos or a New Year's charter through the islands, without having to start over with a new company.
For Travel and Talent Agents: White-Label Concierge
If you book travel for clients or manage talent who travel often, winter in Miami is when the requests come in. Our white-label concierge platform lets you offer our villas, yachts, exotic cars and concierge services under your own brand.
You keep the client relationship. We work behind the scenes as your team on the ground in Miami, the Caribbean and Los Angeles, so you can confidently say yes to a last-minute Art Week villa or a New Year's Eve yacht. Contact us to learn how the partnership works.
